St. Mary the Virgin's consists of nave, north and south aisles, short chancel, and a fine tower. The four narrow lowest stages of this tower are early 14th Century. There is a Dec west window and a doorway decorated with ballflower ornament. The two upper stages of the tower have Perp panelwork circa 1370. The panelled parapet and the pinnacles were rebuilt in 1903 by Walter Wood and are more slender than those that were there originally. The church has a spacious interior with six-bay arcades. There are many interesting 17-19th Century monuments and tablets lining the walls. The font was designed by Perkins in 1840 and is intricately detailed. There is stained glass in the church by G.J. Baguley, 1883, 1889, 1901 and 1902; Hardman. 1873, 1914; Joseph Bell & Son, 1889; A.L. Moore & Son, 1920; and, in the south porch, two windows by Edward Payne, 1989.
