This the last Will and Testament of one Christopher Holden of Rosliston in the County of Derby made this seventeenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and seventy one. I Christopher Holden being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manor following.
That is to say I order that all my just debts funeral expenses and charges of proving this my Will be in the first place fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof and every part thereof I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah Holden the house we now reside in with the premises outbuildings and gardens attached. She to do with them as she pleases for the rest of her lifetime and her demise I give and bequeath to my son Abraham the said house and one garden which is attached to and situate with the yard, premises and outbuildings attached thereto. I also give and bequeath to my son Abraham my chestnut pony with the harness cart and the whole of my implements. I give and bequeath to my sons Samuel, David, Christopher, William and Edwin the ground or garden situate at the Woodharns with the hedge and ditch at Woodharns Pit adjoining the field called Gilberts Close and the North by John Leas Garden with the hedge and ditch next John Leas garden to be equally shared and divided amongst them (my son Christopher to have the preference of the last named garden by paying over to the other four so much as it shall be considered by my executors of greater value than each or any of their shares) And all the rest and remainder of my goods chattels ready money and effects, what soever I give and bequeath to my wife to do with them or dispose of them as she pleases for her lifetime and at her death she may then possessed of of these my goods and effects I should wish to be equally divided between my three daughters Mary, Emma and Sarah (and I give my executors the power to settle any dispute that may possibly arise over the division thereof with the exception of one set of bedsteads with bed and requisites thereto the clock and fixture in the house which I give and bequeath to my son Abraham. And lastly revoking all former wills I declare this to be my last Will and Testament and I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son Abraham and William Bach of Rosliston aforesaid Executors of this my Will in witness whose of I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand the day and year first alone written,

Proved at Derby the twenty first day of April 1875 by the oath of Abraham Holden, the son, one of the executors to whom administration was granted. Power being reserved of making like grant to William Bach the other executor
The Testator Christopher Holden was late of Rosliston in the County of Derby Beerhouse keeper and died on the fifteenth day of March 1875 at Rosliston aforesaid.
