| My name is Robert Howard Hocking,
call me Bob. I am a retired school teacher and presently
work as a marriage commissioner for the British Columbia
Ministry of Health-Vital Statistics Agency. I live in
Chilliwack which is in British Columbia's Fraser Valley
about 65 miles from Vancouver. My father and
ancestors lived in and around Redruth. I am trying to
gain some understanding of my Cornish ancestry and their
culture. I can trace my pedigree back to Richard HOCKIN
b.1799 in St.Austell m. Elizabeth WERRY. Click on the

much flesh to put around the skeletons.
They seem
to have started off in St. Austell but moved to Bodmin,
then Otterham, then Bodmin, then Redruth, and who knows
where-else in between. My grandfather's mother Mary Ruse
SANDERS came from Cardinham. I suspect RUSE
is another family name.
The photo
of me in a Merlin costume was taken after I officiated at
a Medieval wedding a couple of years ago.
I do about 70-80 weddings a year.
