Ian Salmon

I'm a retired Civil Servant, age 68, my wife and I live in Leicester, UK.
Interests include gardening (have an allotment), water colour painting, lawn bowls, family research and soon will make a start on calligraphy.

Grew up in around the city of Edinburgh [born in the city], spending many years in Loanhead, a mining village in Midlothian.
I knew from an early age that my great grandfather with his family came from Cornwall.

On the male line my start date is presently 11 March 1845 when my great grandfather married a Phillis Trewhella GLASSON at Uny Lelant. Can only guess he was born around 1820.The female line starts from Elizabeth Trewhella baptised 29 April 1781.

My great grandfather , Henry ARTHUR, born circa 1820, in Uny Lelant. Married Phillis Trewhella GLASSON in Uny Lelant on 11 March 1845 and was buried in Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland on 29 July 1882. His wife lies beside him, buried on 19 April 1903.

There were 9 children from this marriage, 8 born in Cornwall and 1 in Loanhead,Midlothian.

The family appears in the 1851 Census for Uny Lelant where he was shown as a Tin Miner and then no trace until the 1871 Census for Loanhead.

Have been unable to establish his birth date or place and scanty info on his children or where the family were in the missing 20 years.

Can anyone help?
