I live in Lemon Grove, California, a San Diego suburb. My husband, Don, isn't Cornish, but I forgive him. We have two adult sons, Tom and Brian. Tom is married and lives in NYC. He is working on his MBA at NYC. He used to be a neuroscience researcher at Pfizer and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and completed his MS at Columbia before going back to school full time. Brian is a talented graphics designer in San Diego and is a new daddy to Emma. His girlfriend and future wife has a cute little son, Nicolas, from her first marriage.
My HICKS family came from Botallack near St. Just in the early 1850s. They went to Pennsylvania, staying just long enough to have a couple of kids, then headed to Nevada City, California. I am a fifth generation Californian. All six of my families who came from Cornwall ended up in the Nevada City/Grass Valley area. I am a member of the California Cornish Cousins, Cornwall Family History Society and Cornish American Heritage Society.
I am also looking for RICKARD from Camborne, THOMAS from St. Austell, MOORE from Tywardreath, CHEGWIDDEN from St. Day, SPARGO from Calstock, PERRY from Wendron, MINEAR, HOSKEN, TREVERTON, and MUNDY.
I am a real estate agent with Prudential California Realty. I have many interests, including crafts, reading, California history and travelling.
I have been to Cornwall twice, for the two Dehwelans in 2002 and 2004. I hope to go back every two years to do some more "digging" into my family's past.
