To the uniform zeal in the discharge of his public duties, which ever distinguished him, he manifested those social virtues which endeared him to his family and prompted them as a last grateful tribute, to record his amiable qualities as a dutiful son and a benevolent brother in his general intercourse with society. He illustrated the saying of the poet, that "an honest man is the noblest work of God." Thomas WILKS
