DENNISS |
William Charles DENNISS (b.1847)
and Mary Ann FRIEND emigrated to Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada
from Broadstairs, Kent in about 1870. William had four sisters
who we believe remained in England. Mary Elizabeth (b.1842
d.1924) married a man with the surname ELLENDER. Sarah
Ann (b.1850) married a man with the surname KENNETT.
Eliza (b.1854 d.1878) and Caroline (b.1857). William Charles
was the son of Charles DENNISS (b.1817) and Charlotte
KENNETT. Charles was the pastor at St. Peter's Baptist
Church in Broadstairs and the son of William DENNISS (b.1773)
and Mary. William was the son of John DENNISS and Mary
DILNOTT.

The son of John MOON

'Maitland' arrived in Sydney with plague aboard but all of the
Moon's survived and settled on the south east coast of NSW around
the Wollongong area.

MOUNT/GOWER |
William MOUNT 1791-1882 Newington-next-Hythe married Sarah
GOWER of Denton. They had 12 or 13 children. Only two that
I know of left Kent. Charles b. 1817 Newington and Mildred b.
1819 Newington. Mildred married John YOUNG about 1843,
just before leaving for US with brother Charles. I believe they
stayed in Oneida Co, NY for a year or so. Then both families moved
on to Waukesha Co, Wisconsin, living there the rest of their lives.
John and Mildred (Mount) Young had 7 children
Charles first marriage to Mary Ann HOWARD. No idea if they
married in Eng or NY or Wi. No children. Mary Ann died in 1850
Waukesha Co. 2nd marriage to Angelina PYNN. 10 children all
b. in Waukesha Co.

ORBELL |
Samuel and Joanna ORBELL had a
daughter, Margaret ORBELL, born August 3, 1685 in Deal. She
married ca. 1710 Joseph ENGLAND, from Burton-on-Trent in
Staffordshire. Joseph was a mill-wright and at one time was manager
for the London Bridge Water Works. Joseph and Margaret became
Quakers and emigrated to Nottingham in southeastern Pennsylvania,
ca. 1721-1723. I am searching for information on the ORBELL
family, especially their connection with Quakers. I would
welcome any information that anyone might have on this.

SMITHER |
My g-g-great-grandfather,
William SMITHER (b. 12 Feb 1804 in Penshurst) emigrated with
his wife Celia (nee WOOD) and their children in 1832 with the
Petworth Emigration Company to Canada. They ended up settling in the
state of Michigan, USA. It appears that the SMITHER family
was in Kent for at least 200 years before William emigrated. (His
father was John SMITHER, b. 1780; grandfather Thomas
SMITHER, b. 1752). I would love to know how they came to be in
Kent. Any information I could receive on my family would be greatly
appreciated, for I am compiling a history for my children
