London Family Robert LONDON married Sarah MARTIN in Chalk Church 19th May 1823.(our G.G.Grandfather).   Robert LONDON died April 1851 of bronchitis at Barrack Field Northfleet,  (have death certificate)   Sarah was with him. I cannot find a record of Robert's birth but the children from that marriage were Robert Alexander  LONDON baptised 1826 Milton and John Alexander LONDON baptised Dec 30th Gravesend. Father Stone Sawyer of stone street, Gravesend (our Great Grandfather.  (images taken from city archives)  He joined the 26th Cameronians at Sutherland 1853 and married Ann CAMPBELL in Jan 1862 at Edinburgh.  John Alexander's army records show he had five children before being invalided out being blind.  He then settled in Croydon.  The youngest child of this marriage Samuel Nelson Gurney Campbell LONDON our Grandfather born 23 Sept.1875.

Norwood Family The NORWOODs are believed to have originated in the county of Kent, England, where Sir Stephen de Northwode (bef 1177-1231), son of Jordan of Sheppey1, first adopted the Norman-style surname, descriptive of the north woods of his estate on the "Island of Sheep."
Scot Sabo's Homepage George & Jane PIKE and their children Samuel (& his wife Eleanor FOREMAN & their son George), Caroline, Eleanor and Mary J, Left Kent county for New York in 1834. Another Daughter Sophia and her husband Edwin SHIRLEY and their children Edwin, Elizabeth, John & Samuel Hood later made the same journey about 1840. They all settled in western New York in Orleans County (where I live). Many of them later moved to Michigan and have remained there for several generations. Jane PIKE's maiden name may have been PEARCE. George and Jane PIKE appear to have had an older son who likely remained in Kent. Their names show up in records of the villages south of Maidstone, including Boughton Monchelsea, Chart Sutton, Thurnham, Hollingsbourn.
