Hotels, Inns and Pubs often provided rooms for travellers. They often appeared:

The value to the family historian occurs when you can find someone from your family who is "missing" from home in the census, or who has been hired from their parish to work as a maid or server in such an establishment. You will find some people worked for years at one place, only to be "promoted" by moving to another such establishment.

The Temperence Hotel, 114 Eastgate

I'm not entirely sure what a Temperence Hotel is, but there was a strong Temperence movement in Louth in the mid to late 1800s. This place was established before 1861 and was still operating in 1900. It operated under the name "Wellington Hotel" in Ramsgate.
