West Ashby
West Ashby is both a village and a parish in the Wold hills, two miles north of Horncastle. Fulletby parish lies to the east and Horncastle parish to the south. The River Bain forms the western boundary. The parish covers about 2,400 acres and includes the hamlets of Farthorpe and Middlethorpe.
West Ashby village is a short walk from Horncastle. If you are planning a visit:
- The village is on the old Horncastle to Louth road (now the A153).

- The Anglican parish church is dedicated to All Saints and was built of stone.
- The church was restored in 1873. It seats about 200.

- The parish was in the ancient Horncastle Soke in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.
- Some early 1900s Kelly's Directories list the parish, perhaps erroneously, as part of the South Lindsey division of Lincolnshire.

- In December, 1880, this parish was reduced in size to create the Wildmore Civil Parish.
- In 1707, Richard FREEMAN left an annuity of 10 shillings for the use of the poor.
- In 1763, Horton BARKER left an annuity of 10 shillings for the use of the poor.
- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, the parish became part of the Horncastle Poor Law Union.
- In 1848, Mrs. BARKER left the interest off of £300 to purchase coals for the poor.
