My BRYANT'S were in the Area from at least the 1700's, and I am pleased to say, some are still there. Whilst we are not really sure as to the exact Year they arrived, or what was their reason for being in the Area, and also what was their means of transport, we may in the future find a reason or two why they did so.. We now know that they have distributed themselves about the Country, and some even went to other Climes, the reasons that they did this were known to them at the time, but mostly we, here and now, have to guess as to what those reasons were. They must be very varied indeed. Benjamin James 1876, (my Granfather), went to Australia with his Family, because of the possibility of a better future in the "Boot Trade" out there. Of the others I do not know, but it may have been for approximately the same. The BRYANTS in general seemed to be a somewhat Religious Family, in so much as, my Ancestors seemed to have been associated with the "All Hallows" now 'All Saints", Church for many of the early Years, it is from their Parish Records that we gained most of the information that is herein published. On a visit to England In 1976, Edward R. WALKER lll, a Grandson of Edith Bryant 1864, visited "ALL Hallows", and uncovered a considerable amount of detail about the BRYANT Family in Wellingborough. The results of his research of the early days, is reflected in the Table shown here. Edward also Published a Book about his Walker Family, and in it, he Features a Section on the BRYANTS, with some Photos of some of the Ancestors.. This book Called "Walking with the Walkers", is still obtainable, and can be purchased from.... The Overmountain Press, Johnson City, Tennessee USA. Many Trades and Professions are contained in "Our Family History", including "Ag Labs", Weavers, Lacemakers, Tailors, Boot and Shoe Tradesmen, Schoolteachers, and so many more yet to be uncovered. Healthwise our Family seems to be afflicted with an overdose of Heart and Vascular problems, well, at least in "My" Ancestors, and I have known it to be so in off-shoots of my "Side", so, take care, and if not sure get these things at least looked at, just in case.
