Our family comes, many think, from Ringstead where they had resided for several generations. I say we, since several of us Manning cousins descend from a John Manning who settled in Woodford. His grandfather, Thomas Manning, had lived in Ringstead. John, himself, was born in Denford to Henry Manning, a son of this Thomas of Ringstead. John Manning married a Sarah Roe/Row of Woodford and they had several children. several sons-Thomas, Samuel, and James-emigrated over the years to the US.. The remainder stayed behind in or not far from Woodford. Several of we descendents of John and Sarah have accomplished a complete survey of this couple's children and their immediate descendents.
