HORSINGTON/
HOISINGTON |
I am doing research on all branches the HORSINGTON/HOISINGTON
family that came from Somerset. I started my research with a JOHN
HORSINGTON who migrated to America about 1650 and have been
documenting his descendants (most of whom are now called
HOISINGTON) over the last 10-12 years. However, I have never
been able to link him to his English ancestors although I am quite
sure he came from Somerset. So, I have been doing research into all
HORSINGTONs in England hoping that I would find the
connection that way. I would be happy to hear from anyone who is
researching HORSINGTONs and to share any information I have
found.

RAWLINGS, ROWLINGS, ROLLINS |
I'm looking for the descendants of John
RAWLINGS who I think emigrated to Aus in 1886, leaving England
on the Scottish Knight from Plymouth, Devon, England and landing in
Bundaberg.
I believe that John RAWLINGS
came from Stogumber, Somerset, the son of James RAWLINGS (ROWLINGS),
born 1832, Stogumber, Somerset, but I need confirmation of this
link. He married Alice Jane DAVIES in 1891 and in 1914 the
family lived at "Isis Junction, North Coast Line, Bundaberg,
Queensland".
They had five children, Ernest John, Cecil Idris, Ivy May, Jack and
Victor Burge. Their son Victor Burge RAWLINGS came to
England in WW1 with the Australian Imperial Force and married Ivy
May BURSTON.

WHEELER |
CHARLES JAMES WHEELER born 11 November 1814, believed to be
in Bristol, England. Thought to be son of JOSIAH WHEELER and
SARAH WHEELER (nee DANIEL). Josiah and Sarah's 4
September 1799 marriage was recorded in Saint John, Burslem,
Stafford, England . Charles, my Great Grandfather, thought to have
been christened 16 June 1815 in Lewins Mead Presbyterian or
Unitarian, Bristol, Gloucester, England. Came to the United States
some time prior to 1862 as there is record of his marriage to
Permilla HILL
on 2 July 1862 in Batavia, Illinois, USA. Charles James apparently
owned a sizeable home and farm in the Batavia area as it is now
know as Moosehart and is the International Headquarters of the Moose
Lodge, a service organization. Charles James moved to New York City
and went into business as a banker and broker with GEORGE HUNTER
BROWN, later selling out his interest to BROWN's brother. These
two went on to form Brown Brothers-Hamilton which became in time the
most powerful privately owned bank in the US. Charles James,
accompanied by his wife Permilla and his then two children, son
Charles James Jr. and daughter Susie, returned to England, perhaps
to the Bristol area for a lengthy visit. Upon returning to the
USA sometime in 1866-67 Charles James traveled to Crab Orchard,
Tennessee where he purchased some 3,300 acres of land and a large
Inn. This branch of the WHEELER family has remained there to the
present. Any information about the WHEELER family in the
Bristol area, prior to, during or subsequent to this time would be
of great interest to me.
