area (the geographical area served by an institution)
is the eastern part of the ancient county of Surrey, which includes

Surrey has seven Local History Centres. Each is based in
a Surrey library, and provides a collection of research
materials relating to the surrounding area. You can use
the resources of the local history centres at any time
that these libraries are open. Regular sessions are also
available when enthusiastic volunteers with local
knowledge will be there to help with your research.

has now been in progress for more than a century, to publish a
comprehensive set of English county histories. Although more than 200
volumes have appeared, the project is only near the halfway mark. Nevertheless, the published volumes represent an
unparalleled resource for county and local historians, and for those
researching genealogy and family history. |
