I James Vickery Lane of St Mary at Hill Wine & Spirit Merchant residing at No 34 Adam Street Adelphi do make this my last Will and Testament I will and bequeath unto Sarah Feary (or Farey as stated in her baptismal register) formerly residing at No 27 Oxford Market but for some years past living with me in Adam Street as Mrs Lane all my property whatsoever & wheresoever amongst which may be enumerated the residue of the Lease of certain houses and cottages called Odells Place in Little Chelsea and a lot to various tenants with a plot of ground at the back let to Mr Salmon comprised in a building Lease granted to George Odell and held in trust for me by Mr Robert Routledge and Mr David James becoming my property at the decease of George & Mary Odell the latter being my Mother & formerly of Walthamstow in Essex where they were both buried also the residue of the Lease of the Salisbury Arms Public House bought by me of the late Susanna Warner as well as twelve Shares in the Epsom Grand Stand & twenty Shares in the Star Gravesend Packet Company Sundry Goods & Chattells in a Room at No 1 Boswell Court & all my Goods Chattells & Effects at my residence No 4 Adam Street with my claim for five hundred pounds from the Suspension Foot Bridge Company under assurance of Messrs Few Hamilton & as per their letter to me dated together with any balance that may be found at my Bankers & all debts & accounts due to meI say that with the properties heretofore enumerated and all or any property whatsoever & wheresover belonging to me or hereafter becoming mine I give and bequeath to Sarah Feary or Farey by her register as before described to be held by her in trust or otherwise disposed of in manner following Viz The Cash debts Goods Chattels and Effects to be at her immediate disposal control or investment with the consent or concurrence of her joint Trustees hereinafter named and the properties of Leases shares etc etc to be at the disposal of the Trustees generally for any beneficial application purpose or investment according to their judgement & joint concurrence which may be calculated to produce to the said Feary or Farey the best income to arise therefrom during her life such income to be applied first for the cloathing & education of her own Daughter Sarah Feary & my Son Napoleon Marram by his Mother Jane Marram and until they are severally placed or procured to be placed in the means of obtaining their own livelihood & next for such weekly allowance to my Sister Elizabeth Lane as she the said Sarah Feary in her sole discretion shall think fit & thenor any residue of my property here bequeathed or hereafter becoming mine or due to me to become the property of the said Sarah Feary or Farey by the register of birth for her own & sole use during her natural life & at her decease to be disposed of at her discretion and as she shall judge aright & will by and between or amongst my sister Elizabeth Lane my two Sons James Vickery Lane Warner & Horatio Warner by their mother Susanna Warner who I have already educated & are resident at Sydney in New South Wales her own daughter Sarah Feary & my Son Napoleon Marram by his mother Jane Marram before named or the Survivors of them & I appoint the said Sarah Feary or Farey together with my friends John Walker of Wardour Street Soho Auctioneer & Richard Lawrance of Arundel Street Strand Clerk to the Suspension Foot Bridge Compy to be the Executors & Trustees of this my last Will & Testament 16th August 1839 James V Lane Robt Collins 16 Bishops Gate within George Stevens 158 Drury Lane Proved 30th March 1840 by the Oath of Sarah Feary otherwise Farey otherwise Lane Spinster John Walker and Richard Lawrance PCC
