In the Name of God Amen

I Thomas Powell of Semley in the County of Wilts, yeoman, do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament (that is to say) first I devise that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied with all convenient speed after my decease by my executors hereinafter named and as to my estate and effects I give devise and bequeath the same in the following manner viz

first I give and bequeath all that my Leasehold estate with the appurtenances called or known by the name of Amberleaze situate in Semley aforesaid and held under Lord Arundell unto John Brown son of my nephew Robert Brown of Semley

aforesaid yeoman to hold to him his executors and administrators for and during my estate and interest therein but if the said John Brown should happen to die before he should attain the age of 21 years the I give and bequeath the same unto all and every of the daughters of the said Robert Brown during my interest therein equally between them share and share alike and I do charge the said estate with the payments of forty pounds per annum immediately after my decease to my sister Elizabeth Brown widow and twenty pounds per annum unto my sister Eve Bennett widow for and during their separate and respective lives if my interest in the said estate shall continue so long and I do direct the said annuities to be paid them half yearly and I Give each of them power to distrain for their respective annuities in case of nonpayment. I also give devise and bequeath unto my nephew Alfred Powell and Robert Brown their heirs and assigns all that my freehold estate, with the appurtenances called or known by the name of Lamberts in Semley aforesaid in trust nevertheless that they do and shall within twelve months next after my decease sell and dispose of the said estate for the most that can be got for the same and the money arising by such sale I will and direct shall be immediately paid and distributed by the said Alfred Powell and Robert Brown their heirs and assigns equally between all and every the sons and daughters of my sisters Eve Bennett and Sarah Baker share and share alike. I also give devise and bequeath all that my freehold estate called Musters in Semley aforesaid unto my said executors Alfred Powell and Robert Brown their heirs and assigns in trust also to sell and dispose of the same within twelve months after my decease for the most to be got for it and the money arising by such sale I direct to be immediately given and disposed of (after paying the principal and interest of one thousand pounds due on a mortgage thereon to Mr Thomas Bracher) in the following manner (viz) five hundred pounds or the part thereof unto William Brown son of my said nephew Robert Brown two hundred pounds or the part thereof unto Ann Brown daughter of my said sister Elizabeth Brown and two hundred pounds further part unto Stephen Brown another son of my said nephew Robert Brown, and the residue? and remainder after paying the before mentioned sums of five hundred pounds two hundred pounds and two hundred pounds and the mortgage of one thousand pounds I give and bequeath unto such of the children of my sister Ann Parham my niece Ann Self and Nephew Robert Brown as are not herein mentioned in this my said will equally between them share and share alike. I also give and bequeath unto my three nephews Thomas Powell James Powell and Alfred Powell sons of my late brother Adam Powell the sum of one hundred pounds each and I also give and bequeath unto Thomas Watson? Powell son of my said nephew Thomas Powell fifty pounds. I also give and bequeath unto my sister Ann Parham wife of Thomas Parham fifty pounds all which last mentioned Legacies I direct may be paid in twelve months after my decease. I also give five pounds ?each? to my man and maidservant who shall be living with me as yearly servants in house? at my decease to buy mourning and fifty shillings to be distributed in the Broad? for the poor of Semley aforesaid at my burial. I also give and bequeath unto my said nephew Robert Brown his executors and administrators all my store? in husbandry Cattle? and corn? on the ground but subject to the payment of the whole of the said last mentioned legacies and gift accounting to four hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings and do charge my said stock? with the payment of them? accordingly. I also give and bequeath unto my said sister Elizabeth Brown all my household goods and furniture whatsoever and wheresoever and further all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels ready money and securities for money and all other my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever not herein before given I give devise and bequeath unto my said nephews Alfred Powell and Robert Brown their heirs executors and administrators equally between them and do make them joint executors of this my said last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made and ratifying and confirming this only to be my last will and testament and lastly it is my particular desire that if any dispute shall at any time ... after arise between any of my relations in relation to any thing pertaining or appertaining to this my said will that the dispute or difference? may be referred to Mr Burkland Attorney at Shaftesbury to arbitrate and ... between them and that my executors will apply to him for advice and directions in all professional business that may be necessary to be done in the execution of this my said last will .

In witness whereof I the testator Thomas Powell leave to this my said last will and testament set my hand and seal the twenty fourth day of April in the year of Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven.

Alfred Powell and Robert Powell the executors named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the deceased they having been first sworn by commission? duly to administer.
