Matson, Andrew
|
Sakkijarvi | b 15May1855 | Andrew had a sister named Helena who did not leave Finland. Andrew Matson apparently bought a fishing boat and with other men sailed around the world. When he was finished with his worldly travels he sailed up the St. Lawrence River in North America and docked in the city of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Here he apparently sold his boat and traveled north to a small village called Arden, Ontario. He met and married Minerva Ellen Woodcock and they had two children, William Alexander Matson and James Ewart Matson (my grandfather). Andrew bought a farm just outside the village of Arden and it is here that he died on May 27, 1926 at the age 71. If someone should read this biography of Andrew Matson and knows of his sister named Helena, I would appreciate being contacted so that we can find out who his parents were and if he had more that one sister and how many brothers he had. I would like this information so that I can pass this down to my children and grandchildren. I feel it is important that they have this info. I thank you in advance for any help you can give me. |

| Nyberg, Carl August | Bertbyvik, Saltvik, Aland | January 1841 | Looking for any info on my Great Grandfather, He went by Nyberg, but his birth name was, I believe, Kolteen. His mother had remarried 1847, Anna Stina Ericsdotter born 1811, Finland, to Anders Nyberg, and he was born 1796, Finland. My records say, Carl's father was killed, and I have nothing else on his father. Who was Carl's father, and do you know how he was killed, war? All most all of our clan lived in Aland. | Rodney Hasting | 13April2007 |
| Nygard | Kalax | left for America late 1800 to early 1900's Looking for genealogy info on my grandmother, Maria Nygard from Kalax, b 18 Sept 1881. She left Finland for America when she was in her early 20's (unable to find when or ship information). Her father was Alex who also left for America after his wife's death (Maria Vliens), but before Maria. He was possibly from East Yttermark. Maria also had a sister Anna who I understand eventually returned to Finland. Married name possibly Klockers or Klockeus? |

| Pelto, William John | Tervola | 05 August 1902 |
He is one of probably 14
children, five of whom were born in Finland, four of whom came to
America in 1909 aboard the Arcturus. I have the names of the 13 who were
in America (in order of age, Impi, Helen, William, Olaf, Guido, Sylvia,
Eva, Reino, Arthur, Henry, Carl, Hugo, and Harold), but do not know the name of the oldest son. His parents are Margaret Matilda Kanto (or Kandola, or Kantola), born Jan. 28 1877, and Matti August Peltoperä, born July 21, 1872. I have Matti and Margaret's parents' names, but I have no information besides that. Matti's parents were Jussi Peltoperä and Maria Koivuperä. Margaret's parents were William Annala and Mary Kanto. Any information I can get here is greatly appreciated. My grandmother, Mamie Wilhelmina Walitalo, was born in 1908 in Boston Loc., Michigan, I believe the oldest of seven or eight children (the six others that I know of were, in order, Felma, Einard, Bertha, Herman, Carl, and Edsel). Her father was Richard Walitalo, born Oct 23, 1886 in Kannus. Her mother was Anna Jarvenpaä, unknown birthdate. Once again, any information I can get here is greatly appreciated. |
