William Leonard Holmes (left) was born 19 October 1856 in Georgia. He was the first of thirteen children born to William Wesley and Louise V. Holmes. William Leonard married Mary Frances Redd in 1879 in Washington County, Florida. They had five children and all were raised in Millville. Their homestead was located on what is now known as the paper mill. He called the homestead "The Point" because it was actually a strip of land with the bay on three sides and it pointed toward what is known as the Old Pass. He was a fisherman and farmer by trade. He sold the property around 1931 to a paper mill company and moved to a farm on Camp Flowers Road in north Bay County. He died 24 October 1936 and is buried in the Millville Cemetery.
