Valentine Landgraf was born in Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany, in 1831. He homesteaded near Cromanton on what today is the Tyndall peninisula in 1889. He raised figs and persimmons on his land. He died in 1912 and became one of the first to be buried in the Catholic Cemetery on Frankford Avenue. Descendants of Valentine Landgraf are still in Bay County and remain active in the commmunity.
