Augusta Viola Maxwell Wallace was born in 12 December 1870 in Georgia to Joel Williams and Louisa Mary Trulock Maxwell. She married the Rev. William Craig Wallace 11 September 1888 in Cairo, Thomas County, Georgia. Neighborhood children have said that “Mother Wallace” made cookies, cakes and all of the best deserts. She would call the children as they walked by and they would sit with her on her back steps and enjoy lemonade and whatever goodies she had made. She would also get all of the neighborhood children on her front porch and share Bible stories or memories about living in Kansas. She died 8 June 1959 in Panama city and is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
