Shoemaker Ben Gainer was born 13 May 1895 in Econfina, Washington County Florida to Mary Gainer Gainer and Andrew Gainer. He married Cornelious Cooley, born in Ponce De Leon, Florida 5 December 1907, on 9 January 1937 in Bay County, Florida. Cornelious Gainer was very active in the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, established in 1869. She was the Sunday School secretary as documented in Church records. Ben Ren served in World War I. At the time he was drafted his registration card shows he was a natural born citizen born 13 May 1895 at Econfina, Florida. He was employed by A. J. Gainer of Southport, Florida in the turpentine business and was single.
Ben Ren died 30 June 1969 in Panama City, Florida. He was survived by his wife, Cornelious Gainer, three sons and eleven daughters and 44 grandchildren and one great grandchild and one sister listed by name.
