First Families of Bay County Certificate Awards!
During the past year this program has generated a huge amount of interest in the history, heritage, and pioneers of Bay County. We will be presenting 83 certificates to 61 descendants honoring 17 Bay County pioneers. We will also present 14 researcher certificates.
The awards will be presented at the Annual Pioneer Picnic, which is sponsored by the Historical Society of Bay County, at the Trinity Center, First Methodist Church, 903 E. 5th Street, Panama City, Florida, beginning at 11:00.
Lunch will begin at noon. Everyone is requested to bring a covered dish to share. The Historical Society will provide ham, fried chicken and tea. Emcee and entertainment this year will be by Billy Rader.
If you missed this event last year, please take a look at our
First Families 2008 photo review from the Pioneer Picnic when the very first certificates were awarded to the charter members of the First Families of Bay County.

First Families of Bay County Certification Program

Those with deep roots in Bay County will be interested in a new program designed to identify and honor the pioneers of Bay County and to recognize their descendants.
The Bay County Genealogical Society will award a First Families of Bay County Certificate to anyone who can prove that his or her ancestor settled in what is now Bay County before April 24, 1913. Researcher Certificates will also be available. The Society's purpose is to stimulate interest in the rich genealogical heritage and history of Bay County.
BCGS is now accepting applications. In order to be accepted for the First Families of Bay County awards ceremony in June 2009, applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2009. Applications received after that date will be considered for the 2010 awards ceremony.
For details call 215-1579 or visit our Web page, First Families of Bay County. An "Information for Applicants" booklet and an application form can be downloaded there.
