Organized January 13, 1985

By Nancy Johanna Aul Papapetrou

(Mrs. J. Dean Papapetrou)

We meet twice a year usually on the next to the last Saturday

of the month in February and October at Plant City, Florida.

(Please contact our chapter Registrar for the further information.)

The Benjamin DeVane Chapter, USD 1812, met on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Outback Steakhouse in Plant City. Our special guest was Mr. Harold Yeomans whose archive exceeds the collection of the General Society of the War of 1812. He spoke about the War of 1812 in Florida. Mr. Yeomans brought a few selected items from his collection including a rare magazine article that was published in 1812.

Mr. Yeoman discusses a rare magazine article with Benjamin DeVane Chapter member Mary McIntyre

The Benjamin DeVane Chapter, USD 1812 met on February 16, 2008 at the Orange Blossom Tea Room in Plant City, FL. Our special guest was State President Joyce Sizemore who brought greetings and updated the Chapter on current State activities.

Chapter Historian Rooney Zink presented an interesting program on the history of the Chapter and some of the highlights of the War of 1812. She documented these in a book, a copy of which was presented to State Historian and Chapter Member Linda Neal. The copy will be forwarded for inclusion in the library at National Headquarters.
