Some WONDERFUL new books about Calhoun County - Chipola Country.
I've now written three books about Chipola country, the latest published two weeks ago--Look and Tremble: a Novel of West Florida. It's probably the only book ever been written about life in Calhoun County. The 295-page hardbook book was published by Father & Son Publishing, Inc., 4909 North Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303.The book ($21.95) maybe ordered toll-free 1-800-741-2712; website http://www.fatherson.com, email lance@fatherson.com. I hope this information may be shared with others. My father was Jesse W. Bowden, who ran a store at Altha for 50 years. I am now editor emeritus of the Pensacola News Journal, semi-retiring in 1997 after 44 years--31 of them editor-in-chief. I thank you for your wonderful work

| Right now there is not a list of family histories for Calhoun County. I included the one for Jackson County because there is much overlapping between the families of the two countries. If you have databases that are on-line I will be happy to compile a list for Calhoun County. | |
