Notes from the President

Every summer we have one month when we ask everyone to bring your genealogy questions. There is a lot of audience participation, and we all learn a lot from the answers and comments of our members, so don’t miss this July meeting.

In August I am going to talk about using the library catalog found on www.familysearch.com. I work in the Family History Center on Wednesdays, so I know how many people from our genealogy society use this catalog to order microfilm. This catalog  seems to be an under utilized resource that our members need to learn more about. There is a limit to how much information you can find on the internet, so other resources need to be used. The cost of microfilm is $5.75 for one month and can be renewed for $5.50.

In September one of our members, Pauline Flewett, will talk about British census records. She is a great speaker and can teach us a lot about research in England.
