CLEARWATER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

March 3, 2003

Meeting called to order by Bill Wallace at 7:35P.M.

Members present included Buddy Gross, Joe Turner, Joan Turner, Mike Sanders, Dave Perkins, Kathleen Moore, Rick Moore, Chuck McPherson, Bettie Mease, James Coachman, Marvin Moore, Dean Robinson, Ray Winters, Lorelei Keif, John Tsacrios, Everett Daniel, Bill Wallace, and Terri Ohr.

Minutes of Feb. 3, 2003, minutes approved as read. Motion to approve made by Dean Robinson, second by Bettie Mease.

Treasurer's Report presented by Buddy Gross. Bank balance as of March 3, 2003, is $8,388.73. Motion made to approve report by Bettie Mease, second by Dean Robinson.

OLD BUSINESS

1. Membership Committee - Bettie Mease -Good response to dues notices that were sent. Payments are being received.
2. Program Committee - Jay Rhodes -Everything set for Fish Fry in May.
3. Public Relations - Dean Robinson -New articles published recently that has given the Plumb House good publicity.
4. Museum Committee - Jim Coachman -Dave Perkins is asking for referrals of roofing companies to get estimates for roof repair.
5. Artifacts and Documents Committee -Joan Turner -No report
6. Historical Research - Pat Moore -No report.
7. Fund Raising - Helen Wilcox - Joan Turner will place order for new polo shirts and new hats in time for the Fish Fry.
8. Homestead Committee - Anne Epling - Still need volunteers for Sat. hours for the Plumb House. Sign up sheet passed around. Please contact Bill or Anne if you are able to be there.

Other: Zoning Board turned down Wal-Mart's request for development on Lake Tarpon.
Plumb Elementary will be filming a play at the Plumb House on March 11. Kay Holley will be here in period costume and Shirley Galatas will be here to offer information on the house.
Pat Vaughn contacted Bill Wallace again about fund raising for Clearwater Historical Society. It was suggested that Pat speak at one of our meetings. Bill will contact her to set up date.
Mrs. Long, from the Questers's, also has fund raising information that she would like to talk about to Bill.

NEW BUSINESS

Discussion for the request for a flexible development approval to permit a gas station and store at the location of the current Clearwater Train Station will at held at the Community Development Board public hearing on 3/18/03.
Dean Robinson donated several old maps of Clearwater from local businesses.
Pinellas Pioneers Assoc. being held at Philippe Park on April 5. The association is collecting data on families living in Pinellas County prior to 1962. Information sheets are printed for completion. Contact Reta Jordan for more information at 446-2550.
