CLEARWATER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

January 3, 2005

Meeting called to order by Bill Wallace at 7:32 PM.

Members present included, Joan Turner, Shirley Galatas, Dean S. Robinson, Kathleen Moore, Pat Moore, Dave Perkins, Helen Wilcox, Chuck McPherson, Laddie Irion, James W. Coachman, Anne Epling, Joe Turner, Bob Delack, Buddy Gross, Mike Sanders, Lorelei Keif, Bill Wallace, and Terri Ohr. John Victor Phillipoff, grandson of John Phillipoff, was here as a visitor.

Minutes of December 6, 2004 approved as read.

Treasurer's report approved as presented. Bank balance as of January, 2005, is $1,358.35.

OLD BUSINESS

A. Membership Committee - Bettie Mease - Per Buddy Gross, notices are being sent out for unpaid dues.
B. Program Committee - Jay Rhodes - Clearwater High School has been reserved for the May Fish Fry.
C. Public Relations - Dean Robinson - No report.
D. Museum Committee - Jim Coachman - No report.
E. Artifacts and Documents Committee - Joan Turner -An oak display case originally from a jewelry store on Cleveland St, and rolled down to the Brown Coin store, was donated to the museum by Sarah Brown Caudell.
F. Historical Research - Pat Moore - Per Mike Sanders, the moving costs for the Ducros House is up to $200,000. Due to costs, nothing has been finalized at this point. Nothing official has been presented about the development plans for the Belleview Biltmore. Ed Armstrong, Attorney, has joined forces with local residents to represent preservation of this area. Multiple other groups are also ready to jump in once actual plans are received. Bob Delack offered local postcards he had found for prints to be made for us. Mr. Fulmer continues to make negative and prints for us. The display case for the Historical Society has been set back up at the library on the 4th floor.
G. Fund Raising Committee - Laddie Irion/Helen Wilcox - Laddie and Helen will meet before the next meeting to generate fund raising ideas to present at the next meeting.
H. Homestead Committee -Lorelei Keif/Anne Epling - We still need volunteers for the Plumb House Sat. open house hours. Please contact Anne with your availability.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Positions still available for Advisory Board. Please notify Bill Wallace with any suggestions.

2. Chuck McPherson and John Tsacrios will be meeting with the group that was formed to create plans to attract new membership on Sat. at the Plumb House to do some brain storming. Pat Moore questioned if we have attempted to have information about the Historical Society added to the City of Clearwater's television station.

3. Just a reminder that the 1st and 3rd Thursday is still maintenance time at the Plumb House. If anyone can help out, it would be appreciated.

4. John Victor Phillipoff, grandson of the well known builder in the area, John Phillipoff, is interested in learning more about homes his grandfather built. If anyone has information, he would appreciate seeing it.
