CLEARWATER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

December 4, 2006

Board meeting called to order by Terri Ohr at 7:32 pm.

Members present included: John Tsacrios, Joe Turner, Marvin Moore, Buddy Gross, Dean Robinson, Jay Rhodes, Bob Delack, Joan Turner, Mike Sanders, Bill Wallace, Kay Holley, Bill Justice, Pat Moore, Terri Ohr, and Lorelei Keif.

Minutes of September 11, 2006 corrected and approved.

Treasurer's report given. Balance as of 12-04-06 was $7264.31. Report attached. Fish fry report given as well by Buddy. Report attached. Dean again was top ticket seller. Thank you Dean. Home owner's insurance bill arrived. It is an increase from last year. Several donations have been rec'd recently.

OLD BUSINESS

A. Membership Committee- Bettie Mease Report given by Buddy in Bettie's absence. Several new members have joined.
B. Program Committee- Jay Rhodes Jay reported on the fish fry. All went well. Event is booked through 2007.
C. Public Relations- Dean Robinson Dean presented copies of local press. Great job Dean.
D. Museum Committee- Dave Perkins and Mike Sanders Mike Sanders reported that we have had less of a problem with the homeless outside the museum. Bill Wallace presented a proposal that our museum be included in the next "Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater". Bill asked for board feedback. Mike Sanders recommended that we stay involved in the project and ensure that historically accurate colors are used. We also need to honor past donations of paint by Max Quinn of Dyco Paint. Motion made by Jay Rhodes to accept the offer of being included in this project. Second by John Tsacrios. Motion passed. Bill to call and accept offer of inclusion. Buddy had Cox Air Conditioning out to check on the upstairs a/c. There are new requirements as of 2007. Estimate ranges from $4400.00-$5600.00 for a new unit. Decided to wait for now due to financial concerns. Bill will ask about receiving an in-kind donation to defray our expenses. Terri raised the issue of our current lease with the city. Our current lease expires in June 2007. Jay moved that we explore extending our lease and not make any capital improvements until the lease is extended. Motion seconded by Bill Wallace. Motion passed. Terri to contact Tom Nash, attorney, to pursue a lease extension. Lorelei raised the issue of the need for a new vacuum. John Tsacrios to contact George of George's Vacuum for a possible donation.
E. Artifacts and Documents Committee- Joan Turner Preservation Committee- Mike Sanders A few more photos were donated by George Fulmer. Mike and Bill Wallace represented CHS at the recent Veteran's Day celebration in Clearwater. Mike gave a brief but informative talk. Dave Byers donated a football program from Clearwater High School.
F. Historical Research Committee- Pat Moore No report.
G. Fund Raising Committee- Helen Wilcox We have made a few hundred dollars on brick sales so far. Thanks go to Bill Wallace.
H. Homestead Committee- Lorelei Keif and Anne Epling Sign up sheet was passed around for Saturday shifts at the museum. We are in need of more people to sign up.

NEW BUSINESS

Dick Estes requested CHS participation at the Pioneer Picnic. Bob Delack to follow-up with a phone call.

Terri asked for suggestions for the advisory committee.

Motion to adjourn was made by Jay Rhodes. Second by John Tsacrios. Meeting adjourned at 8:36 pm.
