Henry Parson Johnson Jr.
Contributed by Terry Hamilton Wollin
Hi There! I was doing my usual checking to see if anything new had been posted on your awesome website! I was surprised to see my father listed in the new military postings. At first I did not think it was anyone I knew, but since I am a Johnson I took a quick look and wow! There was a picture of my most favorite person on the planet (that is till I met my husband) My father died in 1981 of cancer, his ashes are in the Saint John’s River near Highbanks (he lived the last half of his life on that river and we couldn’t imagine him being anywhere else!) I think it is great that people are really trying to help by submitting their gathered information!. I just wanted to make a few corrections. I will send the verifying attachments. I’m not sure how you want to handle this but at least you will have the needed certification of the facts. His name is Henry Parson Johnson Jr. He was born in Gardner, Fl. His mother’s name was Dawn Volony Lowe-Johnson. His mother and father were married in Arcadia in June of 1919. His mother died when he was 15. She has been the elusive one in my search, so close but yet so far. His father remarried sometime after he was enlisted in the military. He married Etta Vickers from Ft. Meyers. He was killed tragically in 1945. Even then the newspaper paper heading spelled his dads name wrong. Homer??#!.. instead of Henry. Oh well. Anyway I want to thank you for all the long hours that have gone into making this one of the most informative sites on the web. If you have any questions, please email me. Have a great day! Sincerely, Dawn Johnson Best-Touchstone May 12, 2003
