Obituary of Laura Bell Douglas

  Laura Bell Douglas, age 98, of the Gardner Community, Hardee County, Florida, died at her home Wednesday, October 18, 1989. She was born February 2, 1891 in Fort Ogden, Florida and was a life long resident of Hardee and DeSoto Counties. She was the widow of the late Edward Douglas Sr., and the daughter of the late Billy and Julia Smith, an old pioneer family of DeSoto County. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Gardner Baptist Church for 65 years. 
  She is survived by seven sons: Russell Douglas, Arcadia, Florida; Edward Douglas, Gardner, Florida; Lawrence Douglas, Wauchula, Florida; Lawdy Douglas, Roanoke, Alabama; Loyd Douglas, Corpus Christi, Texas; Glen Douglas, Gardner, Florida; Jack Douglas, Orlando, Florida; two daughters: Julia Mae Griffin, Hollywood, Florida and Rosetta Douglas, Gardner, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. 
  Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, 1989, at 2 p.m. from the Gardner Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Brown and the Reverend Emil Kipp officiating. Visitation was held Friday evening, 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in the Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Hardee County, Florida.
