Obituary of William Alex Whidden
William Alex Whidden - 30 July 1939 This community was saddened last week at the news of the death of William Alex Whidden, well known to his many friends as Alex, which occured at the Arcadia General Hospital last Thursday afternoon, July 13, 1939, after being a patient there for several days. Alex was a native Arcadian, coming from one of the oldest families from this section of the state. He attended the local schools and for the past several years had been engaged in the electical business. He was thirty-one years of age. He leaves to survive, his widow, Lucille Dix Whidden, and a five month old daughter, Dora Ann; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abril Whidden, and two sisters, Mrs. D. A. Dallas of Tallahassee and Miss Burndetta Whidden of this city. Funeral services were held last Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with Rev. C. B. Price officiating. Burial was made in the Joshua Creek Cemetery, with Robarts Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Alger and Leonard Smart, Jas. L. Jones, Durward Smith, Harry Bishop and Chick Hagan.
