Sarah "Sallie" Collins Ingraham
1858 - 1959
My Ggrandmother Sarah (Sallie)
Collins Ingraham lived to be 101 1/2 yrs old. She died in July 1959
and is buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia, FL. Her family
was from Tattnall Co. GA but originally came from Bertie Co. in North Carolina.
Her Ggrandfather was Joseph Collins, a veteran of the Revolutionary War.
Sarah's Husband Julius Boyd Ingraham was from Coronacha, SC near Greenwood
in the then Abbeville Co. he was trained as a doctor but only practiced
for several years while the couple lived in Cobbtown, Tattnall CO. GA.
They sojourned south through Georgia and the Florida wilderness from 1884
to c. 1888 when they settled at FIsh-Eating Creek then Desoto now Glades
CO. J.B. Ingraham was an independent man who worked mainly for himself.
On occasion he worked assisting the local cattle men such as the King Bros.
he died in 1926 and is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The Ingrahams had 10 children who survived to adulthood. They married into
some of the prominent local families such as the Langfords and Harleys.
John Morgan Ingraham, a longtime resident of Arcadia served for many years
as the state representative for the area.
Sarah Ingraham spent her last days living with her various children. On
the occasion of her 100th birthday a family reunion was held in Arcadia.
