Dixie County Historical Society

The Dixie County Historical Society is having a "Fall Celebration In The Park, September 30, 2000.  This is the Jackson Hole Park on the Horseshoe Beach Road, two miles south of Horseshoe Beach.  There will be live music, drawings, all of the Society's printed books, cake auction and a barbeque dinner.  It will start at 10 a. m.  Tickets for the lunch will be sold in advance.  Please call Annie Lee O'Steen at 352-498-3718 for your tickets, and information on how to get there.  The Dixie County Advocate (weekly newspaper) will also be selling tickets..

We also have a new cultural center:  Dixie County Cultural Center, P. O. Box 1908,  Old Town, FL  32680
 
We have six small books, with pictures about Dixie Co., a cookbook titled, "Taste of Dixie," one book titled, "The Butler's of Dixie Co., one book titled, "Double Heart," this book has stories and pictures of people in Dixie County.  The small books are $5 each and $1 for postage.  The Butler's book is $28, $2 for postage, and the Double Hearts Book is $20 plus $2 postage.  We also, have a "tote" bag and other various things for sale to support the Society.  We have leased the Old Town School that was built in 1908, and are trying to raise money to renovate this building.
