In the Name of God Amen.

I, Jacob Darby of the County of Laurens and State of Georgia, being of sound and disposing mind and memory but calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing that it is appointed for all men, once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

And first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix who I shall hereafter name, and as touching such worldly property as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and devise in the following manner to wit–

My wish and devise is that all my just debts be paid and fully discharged.

Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sucky Darby all my estate both real and personal during her natural life, and for her to dispose of the same as she thinks proper.

And lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my said wife Sucky Darby my sole Executrix to this my last will and testament.

In testimony whereof I the said Jacob Darby here hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two.

Personally appeared before me this 25th of March A. D. 1833, James Mayo and Susan Darby, who after being duly sworn deposeth and saith that during the last illness of the Testator Jacob Darby, they heard him say and acknowledge that the within will was his will and testament .
