Cemeteries of Sarasota County Florida - A Record of Births, Deaths, and Burials

Compiled by the Genealogical Society of Sarasota, Inc.

In 1992, members of the Genealogical Society of Sarasota, Inc completed a survey of all of the Sarasota County cemeteries, and compiled a listing that was published in a book titled Cemeteries of Sarasota County Florida - A Record of Births, Deaths and Burials. This book has been out of print for several years. Now, the GSS is pleased to be able to share the data with you here via the internet.

This Book contains cemetery records from Sarasota County, Florida. Here, the records are organized by Cemetery Name and Alphabetically by Surname. Click on the Cemetery Name or Alphabet Letter to use Adobe Reader to view and search the contents. See below for more infomation.

Periodically, GSS Members submit new information. So, check the Cemetery Data Update Tracking List file below for the latest update information. New cemeteries and names may be added. The data will be found in the cemetery and alphabetical files.

Tips for searching the files:
There are several ways to search the .pdf files that are available in this book listing.  The methods depend on which version of Adobe reader or other pdf reader or browser that you are using.

1. On the menu bar, click on "Edit." Then, click on "Find." In the little box that appears, type a word to search for. Then, press the "Enter" key on the keyboard. Continue pressing "Enter" to see each instance of the word until the end of the file is reached.

2. Press the following 2 keys on the keyboard: <Ctrl> + F. In the little box that appears, type a word to search for. Then, press the "Enter" key on the keyboard. Continue pressing "Enter" to see each instance of the word until the end of the file is reached.

Here are procedures for two ways to search the above PDF documents using Adobe Reader 7.
3 - Click on the "Binocular" image on the toolbar near the top of the Adobe Reader window displaying the document to search. A "Search PDF" box will open. Type the word or phrase to search for in the appropriate box. Check that "In the current PDF document" is selected. Then, click the "Search" button.

4 - On the menu bar, near the top of the Adobe Reader window, click on "Edit." Then under "Edit," click on "Find." A "Find" box will open. Type the text to search for in the white box. Then, click on "Next" or "Previous" to search the document.
