Hernando County
Florida GenWeb Project

County Coordinator Deborah Byrd
State Coordinator Darrel Bell

updated 8 April 2007

In 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Florida GenWeb Project, modeled after a project originally started in the state of Kentucky. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Florida, where collected databases and information on genealogy in the state could be stored. At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of data.

Anything on these pages represent hours of work by volunteers, and none of the material on these pages are to be used for profit, and the FLGenWeb Project, and hence USGenWeb Project are non-commercial, non-profit sites.

Hello, I am Deborah Byrd, your host for the Hernando County GenWeb Page. Allow me to introduce myself. I am a civil engineer who works for the USDA Forest Service. I am a descendant of Malcolm C. Peterson and Rosa H. Baisden through their daughter Lelia Patience Peterson and John Andrew Albert Byrd. Their son Andrew Byrd married Catherine or Kate Burnett. This couple became my grand parents. My parents are Charles Byrd and Willow Langston . Even though I have never lived in Florida only been there once, the lives of those who settled the state have directly influenced my life through their descendants, that is why family history is important to each of us. Those that have gone before have affected our lives through children's children. If you any information which you would you be willing to share about the lives of people who have lived in Hernando county please let me know and I'll post either your information or your name as a look up volunteer. The site could really use some more data.

Thanks Deborah Byrd
