Jacob Miley born 1822 in Barnwell South Carolina came to Hernando county Florida circa 1861. Jacobs spouse was Jane Moody born 1834  Barnwell South Carolina.

 

Jacob Miley and wife Jane left South Carolina in the latter 1850's. They then show up on the 1860 Lowndes county georgia census record along with 2 young sons.

 

Jacob Miley is documented next in the 1862 Hernando county tax roll.

 

Then Jacob Miley enlists Feb 25th 1863 in Captain Mcneills Company Florida Infantry in Brooksville (Confederate)

 

Next he shows up again on the 1866, 1867, 1869 tax rolls. The 1870 Hernando County census household 426 shows Jacob Miley wife Jane and family.

 

Next Jacob Miley is on the 1872,1873 tax rolls. The 1874 tax roll shows Jane Miley the HOH. I presume Jacob died sometime between the 1873-1874 tax data. They were settlers in the Istachatta area around New Hope. The rest of the family is well documented after 1870.
