The Hernando County Court House is located in Brooksville Florida. The courthouse has the following records:
The public library has some genealogy records more may be found at the Heritage Museum.
Hernando has two incorporated towns, Brooksville and Weeki Wachee. There are several unincorporated communties in Hernando County
- Bay Port (used as a blockade running port during the Civil War)
- Croom (old community no longer in existence in the Withlacoochee State Forest.)
- Lake Lindsay (old community, cemetery still there on County Roads 476 & 581)
- Masaryktown (on the border with Pasco County on US Hwy 41)
- Royal Highlands (new community)
- Spring Hill (old community on the State Hwy 50 once the old Bay Port Road). A couple of houses and the Lykes house and Cemetery are all that are left of the settlement.
