WALL, JOSEPH BAISDEN, lawyer, legislator, jurist, was born Jan. 23, 1847, in Hernando county, Fla. He received the rudiments of his education in the common schools, and subsequently attended the university of Virginia. He soon attained eminence as a brilliant lawyer of Tampa, Fla.; was state's attorney of the sixth circuit of Florida; and the first president of the State Bar association. In 1889 he served with distinction in the Florida state senate; was president of that body, and is now judge of the criminal court.

WALL, Joseph B.
Tallahassee TRUE DEMOCRAT 29 December 1911.
TAMPA, December 22.
Judge Joseph B.Wall, one of the most respected and honored attorneys of Tampa, widely known throughout the State of Florida, as a prominent member of the Florida Bar and former State Senator and President of Florida Senate, died at his home this morning, at 5 o'clock, after an illness of several days, during which time he lingered close to death's door, and the end was expected momentarily.

No man was more widely known or more highly respected than was Judge Wall. As a lawyer he had a large practice and was considered a most able attorney. As a man and citizen he was highly respected and honored. His career was marked by many high achievements in his chosen profession. Coming to Tampa in 1872, whenthe city was but a small town as compared with its present size, he may almost be considered the pioneer lawyer of the city, and was cnsidered ne of the oldest, if not the oldest, member of the Tampa Bar in point of practice.

Notes for WILLIAM W. WALL:
WALL, William W.
Tampa SUNLAND TRIBUNE 27 April 1878.

The subject of this notice expired on last Monday, the 22nd insant. He was born in Hamilton County, this state, November 29th, 1834. In January 1861 he married Miss Minnie, a daughter of General Patrick May of Greensboro, Alabama. In 1858 he engaged in mercantile pursuits, and this business he had successfully followed eer since, with the exception of the interruption occasioned by the late civil war. Up to 1870 he did business at Brooksville, Hernando County, but during that year moved to this place. In 1866 he united himself with the Baptist Church of which denomination he continued a consistent and exemplary member up to the close of his life.

As a man he was universally respected and admired for his many sterling qualities of heart and head. As a citizen he was patriotic in the true sense of the word; knowing the right he dared maintain it, singly and alone if needs must be. As a man of business, his integrity was proverbial throughout South Florida. He was a man of broad and liberal views, and readily entered into himself, or supported others in carrying out, such enterprises as were likely to benefit the state.

His death, though not sudden and unepected, is felt throughout this community as a serious loss, as his cooperation with Messrs. Miller & Henderson in supplying our coast with the facilities of transportation in the way of steamships, was only the beginning of a series of enterprises on the part of the two firms which would have soon placed this place and section in the front in rapid progress and development. Under these circumstances it is not surprising that his death should be felt as a serious calamity by the entire public, as no one is to be found to fill the measure of his mantle in unostenatious though great qualities as a public spirited citizen. All feel most keenly the taking off of such a citizen in the prime and vigor of life, and deeply deplore the untimely loss of one of 'God's noblest works,' an honest man. Were it possible for us to assuage the pangs of grief of his stricken household and near relatives by expressions of sympathy or offers of condolence we would gladly do it, but alas! how puerile such aneffort. To God alone must they look for trength to enable them to bear this great affliction. His funeral took place last Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by the Masons, of which order he was a member.
