My first thought was Risdon. McDaniels used that name a lot. Also, look at the 1870 Census of Jack. Co. on p. 217 where this man in 8 years old, son of Patrick and Mary Chute. It's listed there as Riston Chute. And they are next door to some McDaniels. Patrick Chute married a Mrs. Mary McDaniel in Jackson Co. on Jan. 31, 1861. Book B page 28 ( See marriages.)

I don't see them in your 1880 Census.
In 1885, I believe they are in Dist. 4, page 3, household 20 as E Chute, Nancy Chute and C. Chute.

I can't find the marriage in your Jack. Co. lists of a Risdon Chute and Nancy.

My best educated guess is Risdon for your mystery name. But, I'll keep my eyes open for it.

I'll bet the rent on it. Let me take you one more step. See the Jack. Co. Census 1860, household #'s 231 and 232.

231 McDaniel Ris age 69 (I know his name is Risdon. He was from NC.
Lucy was his 2nd wife. Lucy age 40

John McDaniel married Mary S. McDaniel Sept. 30, 1846 in Decatur Co. GA
Narcissa is 3in 1860, so John probably died about 1857-59.

Mary McDaniel married Patrick Chute on Jan. 31, 1861 in Jack. Co.

When Risdon McDaniel (& Lucy) died in 1868, he left a daughter named Mary (one source typed it as Mary Chester, wife of Patrick Chester, . He probably could not read the writing.)

Now compare the 1860 with the 1870 Jack. Co. Census on p. 217. You will see that the McDaniel household just below the Chute household contains the exact same children that Mary had by John McDaniel, i.e.
