Parramore, Jackson County, Florida
by Dale Cox
Parramore is a "ghost town" that once stood near the bank of the Chattahoochee River in Jackson County, Florida, about 15 miles north of Sneads. The community was a fairly booming enterprise around the turn of the century, with four or five stores, a post office, sawmill, gristmill, cotton gin, turpentine stills and several steamboat landings.
About all that remain of the town today are the Oak Grove and Circle Hill Baptist Churches, the old Cox School north of town and a memorial that has been erected on the site of Central School.
