James H. Hinson Family Bible
Note: Background information on James H. Hinson: He was son of Harrison Hinson Sr.
b. abt. 1790, North Carolina; died bet. 1850-1860 Jackson Co., FL;
and Martha ?. James H. Hinson was Corporal, Company F, 11th Florida Infantry;
wounded in the Battle of Reem's Station, Virginia and sent home. He was the
first registered member of Salem United Methodist Church (south of Graceville)
in 1864; his first wife Mary Jane McCrary was the first recorded burial at
this church in 1872. He then married Dillie Ann V. Neely; he moved his family
to Geneva County, AL. between 1888 and 1900. He was living in the home of his
daughter Essie Eva Hinson Armstrong in Geneva County, AL at the time his death
in 1911. He is buried in Salem Methodist Church cemetery.
Another note: All the children listed in this Bible are by James H. Hinson's
first wife Mary Jane McCrary except Essie Eva Hinson, who was born to Dillie
Ann V. Neely. None of the other children born to Dillie Ann are listed;
there were eight in all born to Dillie Ann that I know of.
