This, quiet, small, well-maintained Memorial Garden is a Columbarium of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. It is located between the church office and the sanctuary of the church at 623 East Ocean Boulevard, Stuart, FL.
The Garden contains approximately 180 interments, the earliest being from around 1975. (There are some earlier remains than this, previously in family possession, and subsequently transferred.) The interments are recorded in a series of memorial plaques on the surrounding walls. Most of the remains are scattered within the grass enclosure, with a few urns to be found in above ground niches.
For purposes of this survey, names of those interred have been recorded as being located on a given memorial plaque, or niche. Precise locations can be obtained from the church office, and, at the time of this survey, the plaques were in the process of being moved. Several of the plaques are, themselves, memorials, and indicated as such in the remarks of the names mentioned. Regretfully, the names of niche holders were not available at publication time.
The Garden is open to all members of the Church, as well as family members, who may wish to be memorialized there.
The Cemetery Committee wishes to thank the Rector, Thomas Tracy Pittenger II, and the Parish Administrator, Mrs. Jenny Bowdish, for their assistance in recording the information found herein.
