Projects/Committees

Some activities that our members participate in include (listed alphabetically):
Bible Records: The Bible Records Project has become a sizeable collection; however, an editor is needed to transcribe some of the less readable copies and to organize and index the book for publication. Members who have not yet turned in copies of their own bible records are invited to do so. For more information, contact Paul Beall 772) 692-2609.
Cemetery Project: MCGS volunteers are visiting, transcribing, and recording the data of ALL cemeteries in Martin County, FL. We're always in need of volunteers to transcribe data. Contact Walt Bruetsch, Chairman waltbruetsch@usa.net or (772) 220-1638; or Jeraldeen Bloom, Assistant jerrybloom@fales.org.
Special Interest Groups (SIGs): In this day and age of computers and the myriad of problems inherent with them, a number of our members have joined various Treasure Coast Computer/Special Interest Groups. MCGS currently has the following SIGs:
Library Volunteers: Members of MCGS serve as volunteers to the Blake Library and provide valuable assistance to anyone researching their family lines in the MCGS Genealogy Room. All volunteers are trained by library staff and are well-qualified to assist patrons. For more information, contact: Tom Lewis (772) 287-0670.
Obituary Project MCGS volunteers are preparing an index of the obituaries appearing in the Stuart News begining with the year 1915. The Obituary Project is now online and has generated quite a bit of interest. If you would like to participate in this endeavor or would like to request a "lookup," please contact Paul Beall, Chairman at prvista2601@aol.com or (772) 692-2609; Sandy McDonnell, Assistant at smcdtree@bellsouth.net or (772) 781-3800.
