Death of James C. Rundell

Hamlet, N.Y. Jan 25, 1899.  James C. Rundell was a son of David and Sally Rundell and was born March 25, 1816.  He removed from Ontario, NY to Villenova when a young man and has resided in this vicinity for nearly 70 years.  He was married to Miss Prudence M. Chase March 24, 1836.  From the union came three children.  One son and two daughters, one daughter died at the age of four years and the son died a few years ago.  Mr. Rundell was taken sick a few weeks ago and all that loving hands and hearts and medical skill could do was done but to no avail.  He sweetly fell asleep Jan 25, 1899, making him 82 yrs and 10 months of age truly coming to the grave at a full age “like a shock of corn coming in its season.”  He had lived with his daughter the last years of his life and was buried from the old homestead Friday Jan. 27, 1899.  Rev. G. N. Gates of Cherry Creek officiating.  The large company of friends and neighbors attending the service attested to esteem in which he was held by all who knew him.  He was laid to rest in the cemetery known as the Abbey Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.  He leaves one daughter Mrs. Sarah L. Abbey, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren to mourn his loss as well as a host of friends.
