Judge Singeltary entertained us again with stories of his
family. This time he spoke of three brothers who were officers
in the Civil War in North Carolina; his great grandfather,
Richard and brothers Thomas and George. His Aunt Mary (lived
nearly 105 years) had been the source of most of his family
information but had little about the brothers' Civil War
records. The Judge had file numbers from the National Archives
and sent away for the information and received a large package
with their complete military records. (A search on footnote.com
for those three names will show how much is available.) Richard
W.. Singeltary was a Colonel in the 27th Regiment, Thomas C. was
a Major in the 27th Regiment and George B. was a Colonel in the
44th Regiment.
These records were presented on screen for us to see as the
Judge provided more background on each man. A very entertaining
and informative session and we thank the Judge.
