Elmer's Genealogy Library

On November 13, 2008, Pastfinders welcomed Elmer Spear, owner of Elmer's Genealogy Library located in Madison, Florida. Elmer was a business man who sold his freight business when he was in his 40's and founded a genealogy library in Tampa, Florida. He later moved it to Madison where it now resides.

Elmer's has a large collection of books, microfilm, microfiche and files. The flyer, shown below lists the library holdings as of last March. Elmer is quick to point out that everything is filed alphabetically. Books are filed by state, then county and finally, town or city. Where a book covers more than one area, Elmer has a book for each filed by location.

Madison is located between Tallahassee and Lake City, just north of I 10. Google says it's 184 miles from Clermont and the driving time is 2 hrs, 59 minutes.
