What is the South Bay Genealogical Society (SBGS)? A local,
independent organization, devoted to assisting its members in the pursuit
of their family history.
How does SBGS do that? By holding a monthly luncheon meeting that
features outstanding speakers on genealogy subjects.
Is that all that SBGS has to offer? Oh, no! SBGS also has a
number of Special Interest Groups (SIG’s), which meet regularly, on
subjects like Personal Ancestry File, Family Tree Maker, and German
Research. In addition, we publish a monthly newsletter, “LINKS”,
that contains a wealth of information about the Society and genealogy in
general. We also hold periodic Workshops and Roundtables, plus we
arrange group visits to Genealogical Libraries, Seminars, and the like for
our members..
Do you have classes in genealogy? Yes. We teach classes in
Basic Genealogy and in Intermediate Genealogy, in conjunction with the
Community Church College.
How much does this all cost? Our annual dues are $20 per family,
per calendar year.
Am I eligible to join? Yes. Our only membership criteria is an
interest in genealogy.
Where do you meet? Our
luncheons are held at the new SouthShore Regional Library on Beth
Shields Way, just off 19th Ave. N.E. We meet at noon on the third Tuesdays
of the
month, September through May. SIG meetings are held in the Caper
Room at the Sun City Center Central Campus.
How do I join? Just complete the application and send it in or
bring it to a meeting. CLICK HERE for the membership application.
