My Bell Family and Seminole Coumty
My Bell Family originated with Robert Bell, an immigrant, is our first documented ancestor of our lineage. He presumably arrived in the Virginia Colony in the early 1700's. The documentation for his presence in Virginia is the Quit Rent Rolls of 1704/05. According to "Cavaliers & Pioneers Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents" by Nugent in Patent Book 9 page 687 recorded November 2, 1705, documents Robert Bell with 150 acres of land.(1)Between 1715 and 1717, Robert with several of his neighbors relocated to the newly formed colony of North Carolina, to the Chowan District (2). Sources indicate that Robert had the following children: Robert, Jr., John, Archibald, Jean, George – (our next ancestor), Penelope. With the marriage to Ann Ferguson, Robert assumed the responsibility of her daughter, Isabell.
The lineage continues with Robert's youngest son George. George Bell, the next in line of our Bell ancestors was the youngest son of Robert Bell. He was born about 1716, probably in Virginia. As far as can be determined, it is believed that George was married twice, first to Elizabeth whom he married in Bertie Co. His second wife's name was Deborah. The names of wives were not often mentioned except sometimes in Wills or as a witness to land deeds so at best we are lucky to even find a first name for them. George and his wives had the following children:

With new settlers moving into Duplin County, the new population demand expansion. They lived in the area that later became Sampson County in 1784. (6) George Bell died between 1790-1792, thus ending the second generation of the Bell Legacy within our Bell lineage.
Hezekiah BELL was born about 1758 in DUPLIN CO., NC. He died about Oct. 1803 in DUPLIN CO., NC. He served in the military c 1781 Revolutionary War in North Carolina.
He was married to Martha Baggett on Dec 10 1778 in DUPLIN CO., NC. Martha Baggett was born about 1760 in DUPLIN CO., NC. She is presumed to have died in Georgia. Hezekiah BELL and Martha Baggett had the following children:

FIRST GENERATION1. John BELL was born about 1790 in DUPLIN CO., NC. There is a John Bell listed on the 1840 Federal Census for Madison County, Florida. Along with a Abraham Bell, who both state that they come from North Carolina. The ages for both coincide with the estimated ages and birth year for Hezekiahs sons Abraham and John.
He was married to Sarah. Sarah was born in North Carolina. She died in Seminole County, Florida. John BELL and Sarah had the following children:

Later he went to the Philippines, where he managed a Sugar Cane Plantation. He was interred by the Japanese during WWII. He failed to establish U.S. Citizenship for his children before his death. For years they have worked hard toward this goal.
