Florida Pioneer DescendantBiography
A seventh generation Floridian, and a native of the state’s “Constitution
City”. Deanna’s ancestors settled in what is now Gadsden and Jackson
counties in the 1820’s.
Her love of genealogy comes from spending countless hours with her
paternal grandmother during her childhood. She often states, “Visiting
with my grandmother was like traveling through time. We spent hours on end
talking - she loved sharing family stories and I loved hearing them.” In
adulthood, her grandmother’s stories came alive when she began discovering
old records that validated the family legends.
Deanna reveals, “Although I have been doing family research for the past
20 years, I have made remarkable achievements in the past 10 years because
technology has made a enormous change in the way I now research. What use to
take me hours if not days, now can be done in a matter of minutes!”
In 2003, Deanna combined her twelve year career as a technology
instructor, and her life long love of genealogy and expanded her curriculum
to include genealogy topics. She now offers classes on genealogy software
such as: Family Tree Maker and online databases such as Ancestry, Genealogy,
Heritage Quest and RootsWeb.
Deanna is highly respected in her field. She has been teaching
computer professionals for more than 12 years, and has developed an
unparalleled energy and persona, making her a fascinating keynote speaker
for technology conferences.
